Breaking News: Cosmetic Brands Face Immediate Ban in Portugal
In a surprising turn of events, the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) has taken swift action against two cosmetic brands, Carpi Cosméticos and SeiBellaBrasil. The reason? Non-compliance with legal regulations and the use of a prohibited substance.
But here’s where it gets controversial… Infarmed’s inspection at Carpi Cosméticos Europa revealed a series of legal infractions. The brand had been placing cosmetic products on the national market without ensuring they met the necessary legal requirements, including proper notification, identification of the EU Responsible Person, and accurate labeling. And this is the part most people miss: they also included a banned ingredient, Butylphenyl methylpropional, which has been prohibited in cosmetics since March 1, 2022.
Infarmed has issued a stern warning to consumers: “Do not use these products.” This is a serious matter, as the presence of prohibited substances can have unknown health implications.
What does this mean for consumers? Well, it’s a reminder to always check the ingredients and ensure the products we use are safe and legally compliant. It’s also a wake-up call for brands to prioritize consumer safety and adhere to regulations.
So, what’s your take on this? Is this a necessary step to ensure consumer protection, or do you think it’s an overreaction? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
